I Got A Gypsy!

My husband got me a Gypsy for Christmas, which arrived today, yeah! I found out yesterday and no I was not snooping. He has yet to be able to surprise with any gift. I guess you could say I am psychic, because I always know what he has gotten me.
I finally, after an hour got it registered and updated. Now I am watching some tutorials on youtube. I hope I can get it figured out by tomorrow evening. Hopefully I can get it to work with my Imagine, because I have a few projects to finish up. If anyone has any tips all will be welcomed.

Happy Holidays!

Boys Football Banquet

I have made a couple of goodies for my boys pee wee football banquet this evening. To start off with, I made a coconut cream pie. This was very easy to make. The recipe comes from Martha Stewart. Instead of using the cookie crust the original dough pie crust was used.

I also baked a cake using the pink panther cake pan. Instead of making him pink he was made a midnight blue, because of our schools mascot. On the sign I wrote Go Blue.

I will post pictures soon and some of the comments from the people attending the banquet.

No Fail Sugar Cookie Recipe

I have come across a good sugar cookie recipe that will holds its shape very well. The recipe that shares can be easily halve so you can make a smaller batch. The recipe is real simple and easy to make. Most of the ingredients can already be found in your cupboards, which is great. If you own a Cricut Cake the dough works well with it too. Follow the link to get the recipe http://kristinscraftykitchen.blogspot.com/search/label/Cookie . I will post pictures soon of the cookies I have made with this recipe. Who knows maybe I will do my very first video. If you are hesitant about making them yourself, just place an order with me. I would be happy to make them for you with or without icing.

Fat Foam Hair Color

I have been seeing this commercial on T.V. for this new hair color product called Fat Foam. It can be purchased from Walmart for $8.95. I picked some up yesterday while getting stuff to make cupcakes. The color I chose was Natural Black, well my husband chose it for me. The package looks like a Chinese takeout box. What is nice is the container you mix the hair color in, kinda looks like a Tupperware glass with a lid. Included in the package is the base solution, color powder, gloves, shampoo, and conditioner. Only need to shake for 30 seconds and apply to your head. This was so much easier to apply with using your hand than one of the old applicator bottles, especially those hard to reach places such as the back of your head. No dripping either. Leave on 30 minutes, wash until there is clear water, shampoo, and condition. I will definitely buy this product again.

July is Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month

July is Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month

My daughter was diagnosed with JIA a year ago. Currently she is doing well with her disease and is hopefully in remission. Please remember all the children who are effected by JIA and pray that one day there will be a cure for it.

Friday, July 2, 2010

Yesterday my husband and I ventured to Columbus for the day since my parents had the kids camping. We decided to do some investigation into a few cupcake bakeries to help get mine up and running. The first place we visited was the Pink Moon Cupcake Bakery. It was a quaint little shop and very customer oriented. They serve four regular cupcakes every day of the week in addition to a combination of different flavored cupcakes. Check out their menu. The cupcakes were light and moist. The frosting was very light and melted in your mouth. I think my favorite was the blueberry which had fresh blueberries in the cake itself.
The next one we visited was Sugar Inc. The owner was featured on the local news channel that I had watched, so we went to check it out. The shop has a very modern feel to it, but I love the cases she puts the cupcakes in along with the robin blue painted walls. All her cupcakes are organic, plus there were gluten-free ones as well. There were not very many to choose from. As for the taste, they were not as sweet and it would probably take some use getting to.

Finally just next door was Our Cupcakery. This little shop was attached to a coffee shop which was the only place to sit. It was a little cramped in there. The owner was not very customer oriented, because when I asked for one of each of the mini cupcakes she looked at me kinda funny. I do not think she knew what to do. As for the flavor of the month there was no advertisement in the shop like there is on their site. The only thing that I liked was the cupcake bar, where you could decorate your own cupcake with sprinkles, m and m's, jimmies, etc. I think they cater to more of weddings, parties, and classes. This was the least favorite of the tastings.

I have now decided that simple is best, such as what the Pink Moon does. There is still a lot to do before I can even think to get this business off the ground. For now I will keep testing out recipes that are simple and good tasting. I will still take orders for cupcakes and special occasion cakes. Now on to see what it costs to rent a place, get a license, ingredient cost, and so on. I hope it will all come together one day.
